Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the format for your dance classes?
We teach two dances, one in each hour, and we teach the same thing for the whole month. Each month we start on new dances and will usually use the previous month's dances as a warm-up at the start of the class.
Do I need a partner to attend the classes?
No, singles and couples are welcome to attend our classes. We teach the steps by separating the men and ladies and partner up in a circle once taught, changing partners regularly (optional).
Do I have to change partners, or can I stay with my partner during the class?
You don't have to change partners, we just recommend it as it can help by dancing with others in the class who may be more experienced. Plus, it's a great way to get to know everyone.
When can I join in to your classes?
Each month we change our class programme, so it is always good to join in to our classes on the first Monday of any month. We always use the previous month's dance as a warm up dance, and we teach the new dance for the whole month.
What styles do you teach?
We specialise in the social scene of ballroom dancing, so we regularly teach freestyle Ballroom (Waltz, Quickstep) and freestyle Latin (Cha Cha, Rumba), however we have a strong focus on popular New Vogue and Sequence dances. Our aim is to have you attending social nights and being able to enjoy the many different dances that are included in the programme.
I haven't done much Ballroom, but I have done some Jive / Rock n Roll, can I still join in?
We don't teach the basics but, as long as you have covered a bit of basic Waltz and Quickstep, you should be fine to attend our classes. We teach slowly and break down the steps with lots of repetition, so provided you know the basics, you will find most classes will suit.
I would like to come to the social nights but I don't have a partner. If I come will I get a dance?
We get lots of single ladies and single men that attend our social nights. A lot of the men (single or with partners) will often mix it up and get different ladies up to dance, plus, Ross and Sue try to ensure that everyone has some time on the dance floor. We recommend coming to our classes though, so that everyone can get to know you and become acquainted with you and the dances you know.
I am having trouble completing forms on your website?
If you fill in one of our forms and do not click through to completion it is likely your computer has 'pop-up blockers' enabled. You will need to go to your computer settings to turn off pop-up blockers. If all else fails, you can send us an email and we can take your booking, or request.
